James Bartolomeo – BIO
Director/cinematographer James Bartolomeo credits much of his diverse storytelling acumen to long hours spent on sets with the likes of David Chase, Darren Aronofsky, James L. Brooks, and Barry Levinson while working in the camera department on feature films and high-level episodic.
He has been crafting visual stories in the commercial space for the past 15 years with a focus on comedy and character-driven performance. Rooted in his work is an appreciation not only for aesthetics, but also offbeat moments that reveal human nature in its most dazzling and authentic expressions.
James grew up in Baltimore City before moving to New York after college. His first experience on a film set was as a production assistant on John Waters’ Hairspray.
In 2016 his film,‘The City’, an art film/documentary portrait of the past century in Baltimore premiered accompanied by live orchestra at Carnegie Hall.
